AirTag Detector for Android: How to Check for AirTags Near You

Yes, Android phones can detect AirTags. There are three trusted options, and a live scanner you can open right now to see if one is travelling with you.

Scan for hidden trackers now

Three ways to detect an AirTag on Android

  1. Android's unknown tracker alerts. Open Settings → Safety & emergency → Unknown tracker alerts (menu names can vary by phone). Turn it on and your phone will warn you about an unknown tracker moving with you. It also has a manual Scan now button.
  2. Apple's Tracker Detect app. Apple publishes a free Android app that looks for AirTags and other Find My network accessories near you.
  3. AirGuard. A free, open-source Android app from university researchers. It can scan in the background and also looks for several non-Apple trackers.

What TrackerGuard adds

TrackerGuard runs in Chrome, with no install and no account. It listens for AirTag and Find My broadcasts as well as Samsung SmartTag, Tile and Chipolo signals. It records where you were when each one was heard, then shows you the route on a map. A tracker that stays with you across several places, for 30 minutes or more, is flagged as Following you. A device you just walked past is not.

It is a foreground tool: it works while the page is open and your screen is on. Use it alongside your phone's own alerts, not instead of them.

How to use TrackerGuard on Android

  1. Open the scanner in Chrome. The page must be opened over HTTPS.
  2. For full scanning, open chrome://flags/#enable-experimental-web-platform-features, enable it and restart Chrome. Without it, the app falls back to following one nearby device that you pick.
  3. Tap the big Scan button and allow Bluetooth and Location.
  4. Keep the page open as you walk, ride or drive. After 30 minutes or so, check the dashboard.

In testing. TrackerGuard is still being tested with real users. It can miss a tracker or raise a false alarm. If something worries you, treat it seriously whatever the app says.

Can an Android phone detect an AirTag?

Yes. Android has built-in unknown tracker alerts, Apple offers a Tracker Detect app for Android, and open-source apps like AirGuard can scan too.

No. A web page can only scan while it is open and the screen is on. For all-day protection turn on Android's unknown tracker alerts or install AirGuard.

Yes. There is no account and no payment, and your data stays on your phone.

Does it work on an iPhone?

Not for scanning. iPhone browsers do not support Bluetooth scanning. iPhones already warn you about unknown AirTags through the Find My system.
