What is a hidden tracker?
Small Bluetooth trackers such as Apple AirTag, Samsung SmartTag, Tile and Chipolo are made for finding lost keys and bags. They can also be slipped into a bag or car to follow someone. TrackerGuard listens for these trackers, notes where you were when each was heard, and warns you when one keeps travelling with you.

Frequently asked questions
Can my phone detect a hidden AirTag?
Yes. Android has built-in unknown tracker alerts and iPhones warn you about unknown AirTags. TrackerGuard adds a live scanner that shows how long, and in how many places, a tracker stayed with you.
How do I know if a tracker is following me?
Look for the same tracker appearing again and again as you move between places. TrackerGuard marks a device as Following you when it stays with you for 30+ minutes across 3 or more places.
Does TrackerGuard detect Samsung SmartTag and Tile?
Yes. It listens for AirTag and Find My devices, Samsung SmartTag, Tile and Chipolo broadcasts. It cannot find SIM-based GPS trackers.
Is TrackerGuard free and private?
Yes. It has no account, and your detections and locations stay on your device. See the privacy page for exactly what is stored.
Does it work in the background?
No. A web page can only scan while it is open. Switch on your phone's own tracker alerts for all-day protection.
What the colours mean
- Red – Following you: the same tracker stayed with you for 30+ minutes across 3+ different places.
- Amber – Watch: seen several times, not enough proof yet. Often someone on the same bus or train.
- Green – Low: heard a couple of times. Normal.
- Grey – Nearby: a passer-by's device, seen once.
If you find one
- Stay calm. Go somewhere public and safe.
- Check bags, coat pockets, car bumpers, wheel arches and under seats.
- Photograph it. Don't throw it away: it may be evidence.
- If you feel unsafe, call your local emergency number or the police.
- An AirTag stops when you open it and remove the battery.
Also switch on the phone's own alerts
A web page can't scan in the background. For all-day protection:
- Android: Settings → Safety & emergency → Unknown tracker alerts.
- iPhone: Find My app → Items → Tracking notifications (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services must be on).
- AirGuard (free, open-source, Android) scans in the background and also finds Tile, SmartTag and Chipolo.
Needs
Chrome on Android (or desktop Chrome), page opened over HTTPS. For full scanning enable chrome://flags/#enable-experimental-web-platform-features; without it you can only follow one nearby Find My device at a time. iPhone Safari can't do Bluetooth scanning. Allow Location so the app can tell "follows me" from "sits next to me".
Your data — what is collected and why
Your detections and location stay on this device. There is no account and no ads. We only count anonymous page views with cookie-free analytics, which never receive your Bluetooth or location data.
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth ID of tracker-type devices (a hashed-looking part of their broadcast, signal strength, time) | Recognise the same tracker again | Until you delete it; one-off passers-by auto-delete after 24 h |
| Your GPS position (rounded to ~10 m) at each sighting, and your route | Count how many different places a tracker was seen | Until you delete it, last 1,500 route points |
| Your settings | Remember thresholds | Until cleared |
Not collected: your name, contacts, phone number, the Bluetooth address of your own phone, device names, or any other Bluetooth device (headphones, watches, TVs are ignored and never stored). Location is only read while a scan is running.
Careful: "Export" creates a file containing your routes. Keep it private. Use "Delete everything" in Settings to wipe all data.
Detection sensitivity
Lower numbers = more alerts and more false alarms.
